![]() ![]() On the website, it shows that Suicide is being taken from the game to real life television. During every iMPACT! episode after the Augversion of iMPACT!, the words "" flashed on the screen for less than a second. The story mode's main character is a wrestler named Suicide. Styles and have the model of Senshi in the ring. This feature is only available for Xbox 360 and started on November 6, 2008, however, the content was initially glitched and made Curry Man come out as Christopher Daniels in his entrance and Petey Williams comes out as A.J. These can be bought for 100 Microsoft points from the Xbox Live Marketplace and as an extra gift the player can download Mike Tenay free of charge. The first downloadable content is in the form of new wrestlers players can add to the game, these being Curry Man and Petey Williams. Midway has now introduced downloadable content which enables players to expand the game, making TNA Impact! the first professional wrestling video game in history to offer this service. Liverpool Olympia is also a playable arena in the game. Eight different venues-including TNA's main home Florida's Impact! Zone, and arenas set in Japan, Mexico, England, Las Vegas, and locations designed to evoke the independent circuit feel-are available to house matches, with the Impact! Zone having an increased ringside area for play and hot spots for player interaction. Submission and Falls Count Anywhere matches are also included. TNA's signature match, Ultimate X, is a playable match type, alongside the more standard Singles, Tag team and Fatal Four Way matches. The game also features mini-games for escaping pin attempts and submission holds. In the same area a color-coded damage indicator shows the condition of characters. Finishers are accessed by building up the "Impact! meter" displayed on the screen. Scans of the actual wrestlers were used for the game in place of hand-painted textures to include small details, such as skin texture and specific scars. Online play is, however, limited to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. It supports up to four players at once on a console, with online support-which includes tournaments-currently standing at one-on-one. TNA Impact! is geared towards a quick-paced, high-impact style of play, with less emphasis on submission maneuvers. I think Midway did a decent job getting the series off the ground, and the next edition will definitely be a huge upgrade from this one.Jeff Jarrett drops an elbow on Sting in a pre-release screen shot. TNA Impact was a little bit less than what I expected, however I do not regret purchasing it. ![]() Something else interesting is the use of independent wrestlers on the game as you make your way up through the ranks. Styles, and Fallen Angel (not Curryman), and bullying from none other than Jeff Jarrett. I'm not going to give to much away, but highlights include guidance from Kevin Nash, an unlikely friendship with Eric Young, and encounter with A.J. The story mode has you pitted as a reconstruction of the mysterious Suicide character. This different venues give you an international (Mexico, Japan, England), independent (the armory), and ppv (Freedom Center in D.C.) feel. The Impact Zone, along with some other arenas are included in the game. ![]() I have yet to finish the game, however, so I could be wrong. Early rumors supposedly stated that Full Metal Mayhem and King of the Mountain were supposed to be included in the game-however, I have seen no sign of this, and it doesn't look as though they will be included. The Ultimate X match is also a fun feature on the game. Each wrestler's entrance averages about eight seconds or less. The entrances definite aren't the highlight of the game. The graphics definitely don't disappoint. The only thing worse is West's constant repetition of the phrase, "I can't believe this is feakin' happening." They are as annoying on the game as they are in real life. Mike Tenay and Don West certainly do not fail in their commentary on this game. ![]()
